Tea Party Protests

In recent months Americans have been using the example of their forefathers (and mothers) and protesting some of their governments policies. They call these protests "Tea Party Protests." I want you to do some research and find out exactly WHAT the modern day Tea Party Protesters where protesting. Also, I want you to tell me how effective you think these protests are. Finally, I want you to brainstorm a more effective protest.

Hi Mr. Fabozzi! So I did my usual givoogle-ing and...
SURPRISE! The modern day tea acts are about taxes!
On April 15, 2009 ( also known as Tax Day!!!) Groups of people.. ( so far i know of Boston, concord, Fishkill.. etc.) got together to protest taxes.
SPECIFCALLY they protested "Profiligate spending habits of eleceted officals," writes Dustan Prial of Fox News Buissness. They are mad that when America had huge debt, they went to borrow more money.
Michael DePrimo, with the American Family Association, said " It's not exactly taxation without representation, It's Taxation with INADEQUATE representation." So, it is about economics. Some say the goverment is showing "bad behavior" by its rescuing mortgage plan. Others feel that the government is not listening to the people. And i see how they can feel this, because Obamas plans ( I just read about them from the mighty GIVOOGLE!) may burry us in debt more:) We'll have to see... soo thats it
    Bye...

No!! I forgot the last part, so i must add on:) sorry if this is getting confusing...

So a more effective protest could be to write a nice, peacful letter to congress telling exactly what you dont like, because standing in a mob wont do anything..I dont think these protoests are productive, as they aren't communicating as clearly as they could.. so NOW i am done:)

  3. The Protesters were protesting over the Governments recless spending with there tax money. To me the protestes were affective because now the Government has to deal with the fact that the majority of the stores are going bankrupt and the majority of the people are becoming fed up with the taxes. A more affective protest would be to get a group of people together and stand up for what you want. To stand outside protesting until you get what you want and dont back down, if you really believe you can make a difference.

  4. The modern day Tea Party Protesters are actually people in a community who are against Big Government (what people think is a large, excessive, corrupt, and inefficient), President Obama, the federal budget, growing debts (which they think will become new taxes), and most specifically the stimulus package, which they think is a waste of government spending. In these protests, they carry their posters and yell and show... well, try to show that the government is in shambles and we should reject President Obama.

I think that this is NOT the way we should do it. We know our government and economy are in shambles. And I am pretty sure Obama is trying his very best, but what with these protests, we are never going to get anywhere. I think we should unite together to HELP President Obama, not critisizing him. I think some of the protests against him is because of his skin color, which is a ridiculous idea. We should give our opinions based on their philosiphy or skill, not looks! I think if we do have a good idea, we should send him something or spread it in the internet, or do something about it. But rebellion is not the answer. If we get him out of presidency, what would we do? Would we get President Bush to come back? Of course not! We might as well just help President Obama, or at least listen to him out of respect as him being president. I think we should listen to him, think about what we should do. And if we are against him, we must tell the government WHY and tell them how to change it. Not walk around uselessly and say that he should get out of office.

However, if we were to protest more effectively, we should have united on one basic idea and gone, not with people having different ideas (One getting Obama out, Another reducing national debts, another less taxes, ect.). We must also think of our weapons against a powerful man. 1st: Internet. Lots of criticism there! Many, many people has posted up what they think. Read those and look at your angle of view. Do you really have a good reason?
2nd: Published papers. Newpapers, magazines, books, all these things to ask to tell the public as well as (perhaps, the president).

    That is my opinion.

  5. Modern day tea protesters are renacting the Boston Tea party. Some shout "No taxation without representation!" There are protest groups nationwide, especially on tax day. They are protesting about how high the taxes are and about Obama's big-spending proposals. I think thse protests are effective because people are getting the message and realizing that its not fair. The most important thing to make these parties a better success is communication. if they tell more people about the issues, more will participate.

  6. In modern times the TEA in Tea Party is an acronym for "Taxed Enough Already". Protesters conducted "tea parties" in more than 800 cities and towns across the United States on April 15, 2009 as a nation wide protest with the goal of pressuring Congress and states to reject government bailouts and excessive government spending using the tax-payers' money.

I don't think that the Tea Party was effective because the government hasn't changed their ways. They have continued waste the tax-payers money on large corporation bail outs.

I think that the Tea Party protest were a good idea. They probably could have been more effective if they were held on a regular basis or over a weekend so that it would have made a bigger impact.
