Obama's Speech

As many of you (should) know, Obama gave a speech to Congress on Tuesday night. This speech is given every year and is called The State of the Union Address. It is a chance for the President to share his agenda with both the Congress and the country (and the world for that matter).
I would like you to peruse his
speech and tell me the following: What did you think? What do you think is the biggest challenge faced by Obama?

OR

You can research the FIRST State of the Union and answer the following: Who gave the FIRST State of the Union? When? What was said?

  1. George Washington gave the first State of the Union, on January 8, 1790 in New York City. George Washington discussed his idea of providing for the common defense. Also "uniformity in the currency, weights and measures, is an object of great importance." He encouraged new inventions from abroad and promoted science and literature. He believed that “the welfare of our Country is very important object to which our cares and efforts be directed of ensuring to our fellow citizens the blessings to which they have a right to expect from a free, efficient and equal government."
