Educated Leadership

Did you know that both Thomas Jefferson and John Adams both valued education so highly they felt that educated Americans would NATURALLY rise to lead America (as they had). And, for the most part, they were right. Why do you think this is? Must you be well educated to be a good leader?

I believe that Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams thought Americans would "NATURALLY" rise to lead America, because back then they were getting smarter as time went on. What I mean by smarter is that throughout Jefferson and Adams life, they were learning so much and doing so much, which they used to help their country. Over time many others have done what they did as well. People want their country to do well and be simply the best that it can be. In my opinion you most definitely do not have to be well educated to be a good leader. Having experience, and knowing about, and loving what you want to lead is all you need, to be a leader.

I dont even know if this was answering the right question.

  2. Since americans had 2 political parties, they had way more choices and ideas on how to improve the US. They also had great leaders and people who had freedom. Freedom leads to contrabution,or team work, leads to friendship, leads to a wonderful handy dandy world for all of us to live(sarcasm). But i dont think you need to be STRONGLY educated to be a leader. I just think if you have the guts to go up their and lead this country, that surely beats having a big headed dude leading it.

This beautiful wonderful heartbreaking thingy written by, Nick Sanidad. (again, sarcasm)

  3. I think that they thought that educated people would lead America because they wanted smart people who knew what they were doing to be the leaders. They definitely didn't want "simpletons" to control their new country. I think that it is important to be educated if you are going to lead a country. However, if you are going to be a leader in something else, depending on what it is, you might not need an education. Uhh, I can't think of anything else so I'll just say Mr. fabozzi you are my favorite teacher!!! Ha-ha!

  4. I believe that thomas Jefferson and John Adams thought that Americans would "NATURALLY" rise to lead America, because just like Amanda said people get smarter as time goes on. I also think you do not have to be well educated to be a good leader. I mean just look at some of our great presidents and look at how our country has turned out. Oh wait our country isn't doing to well because of the economy and the war with Iran. Well anyway I still do not think you have to be well educated to be a good leader.

  5. I think that just like Thomas Jefferson and John Adams thought, uneducated people cannot lead a country. I am meaning that uneducated people won't even know what they are doing and what they are supposed to do. The citizens of different countries want their countries to become strong. In order for their countries to grow stronger, they would want their countries to be led by smart people. So the smart people would "NATURALLY" rise to lead a country. So my opinion is that you should be well-educated to be a great leader.

I believe that you don't have to be well educated to become a great leader, although that may help. Some people may not be smart in school yet be smart about what to do for their country. Not knowing what 234x234 is not what people look for in a president. They look for how well a person would be if they were going to become president.

It just so happens that if you are an educated politician you probably have a better chance at winning an election than if you are just a person with knowledge of whats going on around you. It seems that if you are an educated person and have knowledge of what goes on around you, you could possibly have a chance of becoming the next great leader. If you do become a president only knowing of whats going on around you, you must have at least some smarts even if you didn't make it out of High School.

I dont think leaders have to be well educated they just have to be good people. You just need to be brave and education doesn't make a good person it just gives them better plans. They had a terrible education system when our founding fathers were in charge and they did ok. Look at how our country has developed and i think it is pretty good. I mean i guess natural leaders should be able to read and write but really they dont need to go to in depth. Maddy

  8. I think that you not only do you have to be educated, but we really REALLY need to have a REALLY smart person. We've had really good presidents, and bush, and most of the presidents were educated. Jefferson and Adams were right because now we have a REALLY REALLY smart president who is 35(or higher) and is the 1st black president. So basically what im saying is that we should have an smart idealist who will lead us to happiness.

  9. I believe Thomas Jefferson and John Adams thought that educated Americans would naturally rise to lead, is because lots of people in those days were highly uneducated they only knew certain jobs like: blacksmith, farming, and every other old job you can think of. And only strong people were brave enough to have a good education. And also it depends on what kind of smart I think what they mean is that the person had to be very logic smart kind of like commmon sense, and they must sound smart. And make big decisions I hope that answered the question. (:

  10. I think they are right because you need to know about the topics you are dealing with as a country's leader. you can't properly deploy your military if you do not understand its functions.
