The World's Policemen

Washington gave the United States two warnings when he stepped down from being President: do not get involved in political parties and do not get involved in foregin wars. Clearly, we didnt listen. My question to you is as follows: The US is the world's policemen, is this the right thing to do or should we pull our troops back to the US and just worry about protecting ourselves and our borders?
